Things You Should Know

This dog breed can live as long as 14 years with relatively few genetic health issues. Some may develop cardiac problems or liver disease, however. The Klee Kai’s furry coat requires regular brushing, especially during shedding seasons. It is perfectly suited for apartment living as long as it gets a good daily walk.

Alaskan Klee Kai History

A relatively new breed, the Alaskan Klee Kai was developed in the 1970s by mixing Alaskan sled dogs with the Siberian Husky and various small dogs like the Schipperke. The original breeder, an Alaskan named Linda Spurlin, created the Klee Kai as a more compact and apartment-friendly version of the Alaskan Husky type.
